Family Trip

The last day before my big adventure ended with a short but fun family trip to Chicago. 

Today, we started our day at 8am so that we could get downtown and fit as much as we possibly could into one day. We got downtown Chicago at around 10am via. Chicago Metra. After being dropped off at Union Station we walked the Jackson Boulevard bridge over to Chicago River. Heading east we walked towards Lake Michigan and readched our first attraction, Buckingham Fountain. Temperatures were in the high 80s and low 90s and so going to the fountain made it tempting to jump in for a swim. 

After stopping at Buckingham Fountain we headed north up Michigan Avenue to Millennium Park. At Millennium Park we saw the main attraction "the bean" and had lunch on the plaza. During our lunch on the plaza we were met by a very good friend from Korean camp. (A camp I have attened for the last six years where I learned the Korean language and culture.) After finishing lunch on the plaza we went continued north on Michigan Avenue to the Magnificent Mile. On the stretch we stopped by the Old Water Tower where we did a little shopping at Macys and then went to look around at the Hershey's and Ghirardelli chocolate for a little indulgence. 

Turning around heading south on State Street on a mission to find Foot Locker we walked another mile and after finding the Foot Locker we were all hungry and decided to eat at a burger place called Epic Burger. For a final dinner in the country I thought it would be only proper to go out have a good American dinner. The burgers were very delicious and filling and then decided to was time to head back to the hotel. Taking the train back to the hotel via. Metra again we arrvied at around 8pm and put our feet up and turned up the air condition to cool off and relax after a long day of walking. 

The short trip was really fun and a good family experience and something I will be missing over the next two and a half months. Tomorrow and early start to get me to the airport and begin the long leg to Korea.
